Uncover That Chin and Jawline With MyEllevate

Double chins are common aesthetic complaints, as is the natural sagging of skin around your jawline that occurs with age. While you can find plenty of articles online about exercises to tone your chin, a minimally invasive treatment like MyEllevate® can provide an immediately noticeable difference in your appearance.

Our team at SculptMD, in Shrewsbury, New Jersey, performs MyEllevate procedures to eliminate the appearance of submental fat and loose skin around your jaw. Let’s explore some common questions about double chins and MyEllevate.

What causes a double chin?

While your weight can contribute to a double chin, depending on your genetics and facial structure, you could have submental fullness and a slim body. Another common factor for loose skin around your chin and jaw is age-related collagen and elastin loss. Your skin loses elasticity and can sag around your face, creating a full or heavy appearance. Poor posture can also weaken the muscles in your neck and chin, leading to a double chin.

What is MyEllevate?

MyEllevate is a minimally invasive facial rejuvenation procedure that lifts and shapes the skin and loose tissue under your chin. It is not a facelift, neck lift, or thread lift, although it does involve a network of sutures that lift and reshape your jawline. The procedure provides a natural and long-lasting result of five years or more.

How do I know if MyEllevate is right for me?

We offer thorough exams before recommending any treatment. Dr. Manolakakis can evaluate you at either SculptMD or AFS for this procedure. MyEllevate is suitable for almost everyone. There are just a few health and medical conditions that would make you ineligible for the procedure.

What should I expect during a MyEllevate treatment?

MyEllevate is an outpatient procedure that only requires a local anesthetic. Once you are comfortably numb, we use the innovative ICLED® light guidance system to insert the sutures without making any incisions in your skin.

The entire appointment takes approximately an hour. You can go home to relax as soon as we’re done. You don’t need to take time off to recover, but you should avoid strenuous activities for a couple of days.

Can I combine MyEllevate with other facial rejuvenation treatments?

Yes! We can combine MyEllevate with several different procedures to optimize the enhancing effects. We offer Evoke Face and Chin and CoolSculpting® to reduce the appearance of submental fullness and various skin rejuvenation treatments to reduce other signs of aging.

How should I take care of my skin after a MyEllevate treatment?

You don’t need to do anything special to take care of your skin after a MyEllevate treatment. The procedure doesn’t usually cause much swelling or bruising. Any mild swelling or discoloration should fade within a couple of days.

Are the effects permanent?

Unfortunately, the results of MyEllevate won’t last forever. Most patients enjoy a well-defined jawline for up to five years. You can prolong your effects by maintaining a healthy weight and taking excellent care of your skin.
